Avery’s Holiday Gift Guide

Every year, millions of Americans are plagued by severe gift-giving anxiety come December 1st. But this year, you don’t have to worry! Ask Avery has the perfect gift guide for everyone important (and not so important) in your life. We’ve divided the guide into a few quick sections…

No. 1: Items Avery Owns That Would Make Great Gifts

FOR YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER: A personalized book stamp. There are lots on Etsy, but here’s my pick.

FOR YOUR SITUATIONSHIP: a Real Radio. For this one, I recommend Ebay.

FOR YOUR BESTIE: A lava lamp. Chic, timeless, and linked here.

FOR YOURSELF: NYC Nightlife Flyer Coffee Table Book, linked here.

FOR YOUR SIBLING: Poster From Hatch Show Print. Find it here!

FOR YOUR DAD: Gatica Pocket Player. Another Ebay deep cut, if you will.

FOR YOUR MOM: JULIE MOLLO Martini Clutch. Buy it here.

FOR YOUR ROOMATE: Vinyl Coasters, as seen here.

FOR YOUR TWEEN COUSIN: Pink Cherry Cola Body Spray. Find it here.

FOR YOUR GRANDPARENT: Learn to Knit a Scarf

FOR A CHILD RELATIVE: Hot Dog Jellycat. You can buy him here!

FOR YOUR RANDOM: Inside the Met Puzzle. See here.

No 2: Items Avery Wants

Smiling Friends on DVD, as seen here.

CD Player + CDS, which you can see at this link.

Something from Lush *****NOT BATH BOMBS

Any Kirby Game, like this one.

Ella and Louis record, to prove you are better than everyone you know.

A Knicks Championship Win :)

No 3: Great Places to Look for Gifts

MOMA DESIGN STORE: If I won the lottery, this is where I would go. Everything is hand-selected by people with impeccable taste.

FISHS EDDY: The mugs here were actually made in the wrinkles of my brain.

ARTIST AND CRAFTSMAN SUPPLY: Repeat after me. You are better than everyone else!!! Your Christmas and Chanukah shopping is incredibly ethical!!!!! Doesn’t that feel good?! That’s what it’s like to shop here, because it’s worker owned. I actually discovered this spot recently, but they have such great art supplies for great prices.

TOY TOKYO: This place is perfect to shop for your situationship that has one spesific nerdy interest. Definitely not speaking from experience here! Fantastic collection of vintage toys and trickets.

DESERT ISLAND COMICS: Best spot for comics, old and new. The owner is a gem and super knowledgeable.

CHEF RESTAURANT SUPPLY: Cheap but great quality kitchen things. It’s where NYC chefs get the good stuff.

ALABASTER BOOKSHOP: Bookstore near the Strand with more niche titles for a hard-to-shop-for book lover.

VILLAGE REVIVAL RECORDS: Very known but lives up to the hype. Expect to spend at least an hour here for some of Jamal’s stories.
